FAQs

  • WHEN DOES REGISTRATION OPEN?

    • Fall Nature School: Early June
    • Winter/Spring Nature School: Early October
    • March Break Camp: Early December
    • Summer Camps: Early March
  • WHAT IS PRE-REGISTRATION AND AM I ELIGIBLE?

Pre-registration is offered to participants enrolled in the same program during the previous session.

    For example:

    • If your child attended Fall Nature School, you’ll be eligible to pre-register for Winter/Spring.
    • If your child attended Summer Camps this year, you’ll have early access to next summer’s registration.

Pre-registration instructions are sent by email one week before public registration opens.

  • CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD FOR MORE THAN ONE PROGRAM?

Yes! You're welcome to register for multiple programs if it works for your family.

  • WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

    • Up to 3 weeks before the program start date: Full refund, minus a $100 administrative fee
    • Between 3 weeks and 1 week before the program start date: 50% refund
    • Less than 1 week before the program start date: No refunds available

If Earth Path cancels a program due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, a prorated refund for missed days will be issued at the end of the session.

  • HOW DO I DISCUSS MY CHILD MISSING A SCHOOL DAY WEEKLY FOR NATURE SCHOOL WITH THEIR TEACHER?

We’ve created a resource for teachers to help support this conversation. Email programs@earthpath.ca to request our “Information for Teachers” document.

  • CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD IF THEY ARE NOT WITHIN A SPECIFIC AGE RANGE?

If you believe your child would benefit from participating in a different age group, please contact us at programs@earthpath.ca. We will assess accommodation requests on a case-by-case basis.

  • DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL SUPPORT?

Yes! We provide payment plans, bursaries, free programs, and Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) options. For more details, please visit our Affordability Information.

  • DO YOU CANCEL PROGRAMS DUE TO WEATHER?

We only cancel if travel is unsafe or there is a severe weather warning (e.g., ice storm, tornado). Otherwise, we run programs rain, shine, or snow—with appropriate adaptations.

  • ARE YOUR PROGRAMS ENTIRELY OUTDOORS?

Yes, our programs are conducted outdoors. However, we have access to a heated indoor space for emergencies or specific activities requiring additional shelter.

  • HOW DO YOU MANAGE INCLEMENT WEATHER?

We approach challenging weather as a chance to build resilience—with safety always as our top priority. Our educators are trained to adapt each day’s activities and monitor how participants are doing. Strategies include:

    • Active games to stay warm
    • Campfires and warming breaks
    • Water-based activities to cool off in hot weather
    • Frequent check-ins and access to dry clothing
    • Shifting to sheltered areas when needed

Some discomfort is part of outdoor learning—but we’re here to help children feel safe, supported, and proud of their adaptability.
